Kwaito is South Africa’s version of house music. It’s “intentionally apolitical” and associated with post-apartheid youth.
Full House mashup videos will never get old. This one attempts to “tap into the most primal thoughts of father extraordinare, Danny Tanner.”

In this first installment of Movie Stereotypes I Love, check out this example of the classic “bad dancer eventually wins over crowd” moment by Patrick Dempsey in Can’t Buy My Love.
This stereotype is usually found in teen movies during a pivotal school dance scene where the main character puts it all on the line. You’ll find another great example in Michael J. Fox’s coming-of-age opus Teen Wolf.
The underlying message here is just be yourself! Who cares if they call you a spaz. Just because you aren’t the best dancer in the world, it doesn’t mean you can’t get out there and have fun with the cool kids. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by other people’s reactions.
Really looking forward to this. Modern Guilt is out July 7th.
The other Rick Rey lives in San Francisco and plays guitar for a cover band called Full Circle. Here’s a video from their performance last April at the Cafe Du Nord. In 2006 I was at the same venue for the Vloggies after-party. Fast forward to about 3:30 to see Rick’s bandmate introduce him to the crowd.
As far as I know, this is the only other person on the web who uses the moniker Rick Rey. Although he doesn’t appear to have a web presence beyond this set of YouTube videos.
He’s out there, folks. I wonder if he’s ever googled himself and found me. Rick?
